Day 50

Bump into neigborhood friend Brent in our street.  For a change, Ryu was willing to pose, but Brent not really.  To have small kids pose for you is the most difficult and stressful undertaking: they won’t (ever) listen to you, never sit or stand still, are always impatient, make sudden movements or funny faces.   It takes a lot of patient and interactions, but if you succeed to capture them when they look at you (in the lens) in a natural way, the reward is priceless.

Day 50

They know each other a long time, here the first meeting of the two, when Ryu was 6 days old.

Ryu & Brent

Day 49

The last 2 days he was very tired, but today Ryu was completely recharged and full of energy. It’s Wednesday, so it means no school in the afternoon. It was a beautiful sunny day, Ryu could decide what we were going to do. So off we went to the Rotterdam zoo. Actually, to the gift shop of the zoo 😡

Day 49

Day 38

Ryu is sitting on a fake tractor of the petting zoo. It had been awhile since we were there, due to the bad weather and the outbreak of the bird flu end of last year, all petting zoos were closed for a while.
Day 38

Day 36

The whole winter Ryu asked me when it will snow.  It has been 2 years (January 2013) since it snowed here, and to our surprise and Ryu’s pleasure, we saw outside was covered with (real) snow when we woke up.  In a record breaking time, Ryu finished his breakfast and we went outside 10 minutes earlier than usual to have some snow fun, and he even threw a few snow balls at me.

To Ryu’s huge disappointment, the snow was nearly all melted in the afternoon.

A funny fact: Mom has bought in the beginning of 2013, a new sled and a pair of snowboots for Ryu, because it was ON SALE and it has not snowed since then! Could this be some kind of curse 😈 ?
